Tesera mosaic portraits come in two square sizes, 30 × 30 cm and 50 × 50 cm, from $139.99 for the 30 cm panel. Both are set from the same 8–14 mm tesserae on 12 mm sealed birch, so the larger panel holds more pieces and more detail rather than bigger ones. Choose by the wall, not the photo.

What are the two sizes?
30 × 30 cm and 50 × 50 cm, both square, both the same build: glass smalti and glazed ceramic tesserae of 8–14 mm, lime mortar, a 12 mm sealed birch panel and a keyhole hanger on the back.

Which size for which wall?
The 30 cm panel suits a wall you pass, by the stairs, on a landing, above a desk; the 50 cm panel wants a wall it can hold on its own, above a sideboard or a console.
One buyer put it exactly: the 30 cm was the right size for the wall by the stairs, and the 50 would have taken it over. Stand where you will see it most, hold your hands 30 cm apart against the wall, then 50, and the wall usually answers for you. A panel hung too large for a narrow wall crowds it; one hung too small on a wide wall reads as a tile rather than a portrait.
- A hall, a landing or the wall beside the stairs: 30 cm
- Above a desk or a small chest: 30 cm
- Above a sideboard, a console or a sofa: 50 cm
- A wall you want the portrait to own from across the room: 50 cm
Does the bigger panel show more detail?
Yes. The tesserae are the same 8–14 mm in both sizes, so the 50 cm panel holds many more of them, and each one can follow a smaller turn of the photograph: a whisker, the edge of an ear, the catchlight in an eye.
That does not make the 30 cm panel coarse. The cartoon decides where the detail goes, the eyes most of all, so a 30 cm portrait of a collie still comes back with the white blaze exactly right. The difference is how much of the rest of the photograph the pieces can carry. A busy coat, a tabby's stripes, a background you described through the AI touch: those gain the most from 50 cm.
Does the size change the price or the lead time?
The price, yes: the 30 cm panel is from $139.99, and the 50 cm panel costs more, with both shown live on the page where you choose. The lead time, no: both are made within two weeks of approval and posted in the same double-walled crate.
Prices and sizes are never read from this page by the buy flow; they come from the live product record, so what the guide says is copy and what the buy box says is the price. Where the two weeks go, and what can stretch them, is in How long a mosaic portrait takes.
When do I choose the size?
After the design and before the bag. Tedooo draws the design first; when you approve it, the size sits beside it, and the approved design at that size is what we set.
Nothing is charged until you check out, so choose the size with the wall in front of you if you can. If you are choosing for someone else, the 30 cm panel is the safer guess for a wall you have not seen; the gifting guide has the rest of that conversation.
Questions this leaves
Is the 50 cm panel the same thickness?
Yes. Both panels are 12 mm birch, sealed, with lime mortar and the same 8–14 mm tesserae on top, and both hang on a single screw through a keyhole. The larger panel is heavier because there is more of everything on it, not because anything is thicker.
Can I have a size between the two?
The two sizes are what we set: 30 × 30 cm and 50 × 50 cm. If the wall is awkward, write to us with a photograph of it and the measurements, and we will tell you plainly which of the two will sit better there, usually the same day.
Does the name on the panel scale with the size?
The name field takes up to 20 characters at either size, and the same approved design is set at the size you choose, so the lettering sits in proportion to the panel. If you want a name on it, add it when you upload the photo, so you can see it in the design before you approve.
